In the summer of 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with Freehold Group. During my time there, I collaborated with the team on designing a citywide scavenger hunt across New York City to celebrate the launch of PlayStation’s Spider-Man 2. My primary role involved creating graphics that were featured throughout the event, giving me a hands-on understanding of how visual design influences user experience. This project deeply shaped my perspective, sharpening my focus on how my concepts, layouts, and designs impact audience engagement and interaction.

The Great Hunt kicked off at Smith Street and Fulton Avenue, with participants receiving Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 lanyards and PlayStation tote bags. Along the way, players collected Molecule Cards revealing a hidden QR code leading to the exclusive Spidey Lounge's final destination. The journey included giveaways, PlayStation Stars Digital Collectibles, and the Spider-Bot Sighting Challenge, where players hunted for hidden Spider-Bots across the city. At the Spidey Lounge, fans enjoyed game demos, photo ops, refreshments, exclusive merch, and sweepstakes featuring high-end prizes like limited-edition bundles and Marvel-inspired eyewear.

Outcome
Designing for The Great Hunt showed me just how impactful, user-centered design can be. From visuals that guided players through the city to interactive elements like the Molecule Cards, every piece had to enhance and create access the experience. It was the first time I saw my work influence how people engaged with a space—and it solidified my passion for designing with the user in mind.
